At Steeles Tavern Manor, we seek to provide privacy and luxury for your Shenandoah Valley getaway. Located between Lexington and Staunton and close to both Charlottesville and Harrisonburg, VA, we offer guests a choice of lodging options including secluded cabin rentals and modern, yet historic, B&B accommodations. We’re easy to work with, but we do have a few simple rules!

  • We are an adults only property.  All guests must be 18 years or older.  The primary booking guest must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Room rates are based on single or double occupancy.
  • For guests sharing a room, but who prefer not to share the same bed, we will happily provide a cot for a one time charge of $30.
  • Pets are not permitted on the property, with the exception of our dog-friendly Pond View Cabin.
  • Candles or open flames are not permitted in the Manor or cabins.
  • For the security of our guests and property we use exterior Ring security cameras (audio disabled) at the Manor front door and cabin parking areas.
  • We are not able to issue refunds for early departures and no shows.

Manor Check In: Anytime after 4 PM.  After 8 PM is gladly accommodated with advance notice. Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate early check ins.  If you arrive in the area early please look at our website for some nearby attractions to enjoy while we prepare for your arrival.

Cabin Check In:  Anytime after 4 PM.  See our early check in policy below.  Cabins are self check in, and you will receive an email with cabin directions and door codes prior to your arrival.

Check Out: 11 AM at the Manor, 12 noon for the cabins.

If you plan on arriving before 4 PM, please call us on your day of arrival (after 12 PM) to check if your cabin is ready. If it is, an early check in might be possible. The charge for an early arrival is $10 for each 1/2 hour (or part thereof) prior to 4 PM.   This includes access to the grounds.

Have you stayed with us before? If so, we’ll waive up to $20 of early check in fees.

At time of reservation, you will be charged in full for a one night stay or 50% of the total for two or more nights.  You will be charged the balance of your reservation on your day of arrival.

Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover are preferred methods of payment.  Please notify us if you would like to use cash, check, or gift certificates.

If your travel plans change and  you must cancel your reservation, please inform us at least 15 days before your arrival date (30 days for the month of October). We will issue you a full refund less a $50 cancellation fee.

If you cancel your reservation 14 days or less before your arrival date (30 days for the month of October) you are responsible for the full amount of your reservation.  Unfortunately, we can not make changes to your reservation, including moving the date and/or a reduction of nights, within this 14-day window (30 days October).

For groups or individuals reserving three or more rooms or cabins for any given date there is a 30 day notification period for cancellations/changes.  All above fees and conditions apply.

Sometimes life throws us a curve ball and  plans must be changed, so we’re now offering a flexible cancellation plan. If you need to cancel up to 48 hours prior to check in time, you get a full refund of your deposit less a 15% cancellation fee. Payment of the full value of your reservation is required in advance for this plan using a Credit or Debit Card.  If you cancel/change your reservation less than 48 hours prior to check in you are responsible for the full amount of the reservation. You may be responsible for packages/items ordered if we have already purchased them.

This plan is not available for group reservations, and it can not be combined with any discounts or special offers.

As Covid-19 is now a known risk to travel, the above cancellation policy is in effect. Unless a state executive order specifically closes lodging facilities, we are unable to change/cancel reservations due to other facilities or activities being closed because of COVID-19.

We STRONGLY recommend all travelers purchase travel insurance to protect their investment. A great place to compare rates is Insurance My Trip.

The Manor, cabins, and grounds are for the exclusive use of registered guests.

If guests staying in the Manor wish to receive visitors for a brief visit, we ask that this be coordinated with us in advance.

Guests staying in the cabins are not allowed visitors.

We reserve the right to charge guests for damage to property, including linen, that is caused by misuse or negligence.  Guests may also be charged a cleaning fee for grossly contaminated hot tubs. Charges may need to be applied after the departure of the Guest as deemed necessary by the Owner/Innkeeper.

Smoking is not permitted inside the Manor or cabins, on any decks or inside the pool area.  Guests are permitted to smoke outdoors.  Guests who are not able to comply with this policy will be asked to seek accommodations elsewhere.  There is a recovery/cleaning charge starting at $250 for the cleaning of any room or cabin that has a residual smoke odor.

EV Charging  There is a fee of $20 per day/charge for EV charging.

Dogs are welcome in our Pond View Cabin for a fee of $30 per night per dog.

A maximum of two dogs (minimum of 6 months old) are allowed.

After you’ve made a “pet reservation” you will receive an email with our pet policies.
We are best known for being a romantic retreat for couples.  However, if you’re interested in renting the entire house for a family or private event, please contact us prior to making any reservations.  We will need to discuss your plans, and our contract, to see if we can accommodate your group.
