- Our Ivy Cabin has been recently renovated and redecorated and sits at the highest point on our property, overlooking the Shenandoah Valley and Allegheny mountains in the distance. Sunsets from this cabin’s panoramic front porch are spectacular.
- The Sunset cabin offers a sense of tranquility that can’t be matched. From here, you’ll enjoy 180-degree views of the Allegheny Mountains, and from the back, you’ll enjoy 100 acres of unspoiled forest.
- The Pond View Cabin is perfect for wildlife lovers. It overlooks a spring-fed pond in the back, where you can even enjoy a bit of catch and release fishing. This cabin is also dog-friendly.
- The Treetop Cabin is the first of our newer cabins, and as its name suggests, it sits high above the ground in a grove of trees, from which you’ll enjoy a magnificent view of the valley and grounds at our Shenandoah Valley Bed and Breakfast.
- Our final cabin is the Mountain View Cabin, which offers gorgeous views of the grounds and the Allegheny Mountains in the distance.

- Virginia’s wine industry is burgeoning, and with such a rich agricultural history, it’s no surprise that there’s some excellent wine tasting right here in the Shenandoah Valley. Blue Ridge Parkway in Fall
If you’re looking for Virginia’s most explosive and colorful fall colors, nothing beats driving down the breathtaking Blue Ridge Parkway. The season varies yearly and depends on annual rainfall and other weather conditions. Still, fall colors on the Blue Ridge Parkway generally peak mid to late October, often lasting well into the first weeks of November.
Spend a day hiking at the Peaks of Otter area, one of the most popular places along the Blue Ridge Parkway. The hike to the top of Sharp Top Mountain will reward you with a stunning 360-degree view of the valley below. Alternatively, the 1.75-mile Johnson Farm Trail is beautiful and offers pastoral views of the restored farmhouse, antique farm equipment, barn, and more.
Waterfalls are gorgeous in the fall, and one of our favorites is Crabtree Falls. Other incredible waterfalls include White Rock Falls, Wigwam Falls, Apple Orchard Falls, and Fallingwater Cascades.
There are a lot of apple orchards in the Nelson County area, and not only is apple picking a time-honored fall tradition, but it’s a great place to experience the seasonal beauty of fall. Or, for something relaxing, sit back and enjoy one of the many scenic drives in the area, soaking in the stunning Blue Ridge Parkway fall colors as you go.
Fall Foliage in Shenandoah National Park
Another great place to witness Virginia’s fall colors is in Shenandoah National Park, just north of our Shenandoah Valley Bed and Breakfast. It’s considered one of the county’s most beautiful parks, a statement especially true in the fall.
A scenic drive along Skyline Drive is the most popular way to enjoy Shenandoah National Park’s fall foliage. Skyline Drive is a beautiful 105-mile route through the heart of the park. To drive from end to end, expect to spend about 3 hours, depending on how much you stop. There are 75 overlooks along the drive, ensuring you’ll get some of the best views of those vibrant reds, oranges, and yellows of fall.
Hiking is also a great way to enjoy fall in the park, and we’ve listed some of our favorite Shenandoah National Park hiking trails in a previous blog. The Stony Man Trail is one of the most popular.
