Don’t hibernate this winter. Come visit us to enjoy the winter activities the Valley has to offer. There are plenty of things to do and see here.
Wineries in our “neighborhood” are opened all year around. Rockbridge Vineyards is our closest one located 2 miles from the Manor. Barren Ridge Vineyards and Ox Eye Vineyard Tasting Room are located in Staunton about 20 minutes from us. Come taste the local juice! Also, Staunton is holding its 3rd annual Winter Wine Festival on February 16. Over 15 wineries are participating. Ray and I went last year (and plan to go this year) and tasted so many good wines.
Micro Breweries are located around us. We have Blue Lab and Devil’s Backbone Outpost in Lexington where they have beer tastings and customers can purchase pints of beer. And a short drive in Afton on Rt 151 is Blue Mountain, Wild Wolf, and Devil’s Backbone Main Breweries. These working breweries have restaurants with wonderful food! It makes it a nice afternoon brew tour with great food to sample.
Historical Sites & Museums are located around us. Cyrus McCormick Farm is around the corner from us. You can see a replica of the reaper and enjoy walking the grounds. Museums in Lexington: Virginia Military Institute Museum, Lee Chapel and Museum, and George C. Marshall Museum provide the history buff with a wealth of information. Woodrow Wilson Library is located in the town of his birthplace, Staunton Virginia. It’s a great way to enjoy the day regardless of the weather outside.
For the nature lover, we have outdoor activities for you to enjoy this winter. Crabtree Falls is open year around as well as Natural Bridge and Caverns, Luray Caverns, and Boxwood Nature Center.
And then there is always shopping. Both Lexington and Staunton downtown areas have wonderful “small town” shops. During your shopping trip, visit Lexington Coffee Roasters and Cheese Shop in Lexington to sample coffees and great variety of cheeses. While in Staunton, stop in at Sunspots Studio to see glass blowing and even create your own glass blown item.
And if you love Antique Shopping, stop into Dukes Antiques in Lexington or wonder across the road from us to The Antique Shop.
And if you just want to getaway and relax, the Manor House provides comfortable guest rooms with flat screen TVS and DVD players to watch a good movie. Or for true relaxation, schedule a massage. You won’t regret it. And the Social Room awaits you where there is always 5:30 pm social hour with Ray pouring Virginia wines and beers and Melissa serving delicious snacks!
Don’t miss out. Come visit us this winter!
