Your canine friend can watch you catch fish from the pond (guests of this cottage have exclusive “catch-and-release” fishing privileges!).
The Pond View Cottage is complete with a king size four-poster bed, central heating and air conditioning, full kitchen with all the necessary appliances, ceiling fans, satellite TV and free WiFi. The gas fireplace is a toasty touch for cool nights. Outside, the covered back deck includes a hot tub, BBQ grill, table and chairs, and two lounge chairs. When you head out to area attractions, you will find great hiking nearby and lots of attractions, breweries, and wineries that accept canine friends. One of the most picturesque hiking trails is Crabtree Falls, located just off of Rt 56 in Nelson County. The Woodrow Wilson Library and Birthplace allows leached dogs on the grounds in nearby Staunton, VA. The Historic Staunton Guided and Self-guided Walking Tours is another great opportunity to take your four-legged friend along for the sites (and smells!).
There are a number of restaurants in the area that outdoor seating in the summer and accept canine guests. In Lexington, enjoy great food at Healthy Foods Co-op, located at 110 West Washington Street. One block away on the same street, you can try dessert at Sweet Treats Bakery. Also in Lexington, on Main Street visit Joyful Spirit Café – sit outside and be a people-watcher while your pet rests with some cool water.
Let “Fido” lead you around Staunton until you find three wonderful outdoor restaurants: Cranberries (on South New Street), Wright’s Dairy-Rite (on Greenville Avenue), and Byers Street Bistro (on Byers Street). If you need any pet supplies while you are on your pet-friendly vacation, there is a Tractor Supply Company store in Staunton too.
Maybe you want to sip some Virginia wines while visiting the Shenandoah Valley. The innkeepers can give you directions to Rockbridge Vineyard, Lexington Valley Vineyard, Afton Mountain Vineyard, Cardinal Point Vineyard, or King Family Vineyards.
