Coming to downtown Lexington, VA – on Saturday, August 27, 2016, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm – it’s the Rockbridge Community Festival! This one-day event is sponsored by the Lexington Rotary Club and the Lexington-Rockbridge Jaycees, with all the proceeds benefitting local, Shenandoah Valley charities.
Arts & craft vendors, area businesses, and local charitable organizations have booth space along 3 blocks of Lexington’s Main Street. Music and food is also part of the fun of the day.
Entertainment will occur at the Main Stage at the Rockbridge County Old Courthouse Green located at 2 South Main Street and in the center of all the activity. The shows begin at 9:00 am with Mac Baker and Wade Branner playing acoustic tunes from the 70s, 80s, 90s, and beyond. At 10:00 am, enjoy watching the Blue Ridge Mountain Cloggers dancing (or clogging) for your entertainment. Following the Cloggers, enjoy music performed by SaraJane McDonald and SweetFire. This young performer will have you tapping your toes to the sound of country rock tunes. Spacecase will be on the stage at 11:00 am. You will hear original rock, punk, and heavy metal music performed by this local group from Lexington. Marla Palma Band completes the line-up of entertainment. This group is well known in the central VA area and will entertain you with rock, R&B, soul, and even some jazz music.
Artists & craftsmen are the central focus of the community festival as booths line both sides of Main Street! Some of the vendors who will be displaying and selling their creations include HiddenWest Jewelry, Hoopla, Glass Wizard, Brent McGuirt Photography, Audry Boobar Designs, Ahsley Cahall Pottery, Floyd’s Woodshop, W & C Designs, Courtney Lee Horner (Artist), Rockbridge Photography, The Green Shed, Juliette Jewelry, Arcangels Creations, Karen’s Glass, Treeditions, John Owens Decoys, Linda Patrick Studio, Crooked Mountain Crafts, and Misty Mountain Wares.
There will be quite a number of non-profit organizations and businesses to meet at the festival too. Animal rescue groups, churches, VT Alumni, schools, Youth & child services, banks, realtors, and support groups will be available to answer your questions and educate you about their services.
And food! Of course, food! The main sponsors of the festival, the Jaycees and Rotary Clubs, will host a hotdog and drink booth on the Well Fargo Bank Plaza in the heart of the activity. There will also be a number of food vendors in the Food Court located north of Washington Street. You can find great “fair foods” such as grilled chicken, pit BBQ, popcorn, hamburgers, French fries, sno-cones, and ice cream. You will not go hungry during this special event!
Join us for the 40th Anniversary edition of the Rockbridge Community Festival on August 27, 2016! Come early because many vendors sell-out of their special crafts before 3:00 pm.
