Well, we’re just about ready to ring in the NEW YEAR, but just because it’s January doesn’t mean your stay with us has to be boring or that you have to break your post-holiday bank! Here are a few side trip ideas for those of you thinking of visiting us this month:
Looking for….
a Little Culture?
January 19: Indulge in Southern Inn’s monthly local wine tasting dinner. Experience the flavors of nearby wineries and share a delicious meal with friends or family for only $25 per person! Dinner begins at 6:30pm. We would be happy to make a reservation for you.
January 28-29: Awake your sense of creativity and expand your mind at an artist’s lecture and reception at Washington and Lee University titled “Louviere + Vanessa: Persistence of Vision,” 6pm at the Concert Hall at Wilson Hall. This New Orleans based husband and wife team brings together Jeff Louviere’s background in painting and printmaking and Vanessa Brown’s experience with photography to take a multidisciplinary approach to making photographs and films. Their surreal images make reference to dreams, memories, and imagined narratives.
a Little History?
January 19: Check out Lee-Jackson Day in Downtown Lexington. This FREE day of fun includes reenactments, parades and speakers from 10am-3pm.
a Little Adventure?
Explore one of several nearby caves and caverns and see the beauty beneath the Shenandoah Valley. Here are a few suggestions within an hour’s drive or less:
Endless Caverns, New Market, VA
Natural Bridge Caverns, Natural Bridge, VA,
Grand Caverns, Grottoes, VA
As always, please don’t forget to check out specials page for new packages and incentives!
Wishing you a very happy New Year!
