Our “Steele In Love” package includes all the elements for a truly memorable winter getaway. When you enter your room or cottage, the first thing you and your special someone will notice is the dozen of fresh red roses. Red roses are the symbol of love and affection that was associated with Aphrodite in Greek mythology or Venus who was known as the goddess of love. Shakespeare referred to a rose in his play that is famous for romantic love – “Romeo & Juliet”. Poems have been written about the romantic properties of red roses. And a bouquet of red roses is still the most popular way to say “I love you.”
Another element of this romantic package is a box of Godiva Truffles. Godiva has been producing rich Belgian chocolates since 1926. They know about chocolate and they know how to reach the heart through the luscious taste of a delightful sweet treat! Chocolate was first brought to Europe by the Spanish conquistadors who, when they landed in what is now Mexico, found Montezuma drinking a beverage made from cacao. It was thought that Aztec king consumed this special dark drink as an aphrodisiac and for stamina. The Mayans honored a cacao god known as Quetzalcoatl. When the explorers returned to Spain and Europe, they brought cacao and the recipe for a chocolate beverage. This drink was reserved for the aristocrats like Marie Antoinette who started each day with a cup of chocolate. The bitter cacao bean was made sweeter as the Europeans experimented with various recipes and voila! Today we have a wonderful variety of chocolate delights. There are some wonderful wineries located very close to our B&B and your bottle of “bubbly” will not travel far to be found in your guest room when you check-in. We will have the sparkling wine chilled and provide glasses for you to enjoy your beverage. Wine and champagne have been considered the drinks of romance! And there are a number reasons why this is true…
