Thanksgiving Holiday Visit to the Shenandoah Valley VA

Are you planning a Thanksgiving Day getaway to the Shenandoah Valley? We still have a few rooms or cottage available for the holiday. This is your chance to relax before the rush of decorating, shopping, and cookie baking.  If you are visiting family in the area, we provide a restful night and a great breakfast for you before you head off to have your family dinner and watch all the games of the day.

If you are planning your own quiet Thanksgiving getaway, you have a number of choices for dinner in our area.

Take a 40-minute drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway to find two wonderful Thanksgiving dinner options at Wintergreen Resort. The views from these dining rooms are well worth the drive! The Copper Mine Bistro will offer a Thanksgiving Buffet from 1:30pm to 5pm. The cold station has eight items to start the meal. The hot station includes roasted turkey, prime rib, mussels, and a catch of the day as the “main” courses. You will also find a traditional sweet potato casserole, green beans with butternut squash, and herb cornbread stuffing among other creative side dishes. Of course there is a dessert station with pumpkin, apple, and pecan pies, several cake selections, cheesecake, and ice cream.

The Stoney Creek Bar & Grill at Wintergreen Resort is a second option for Thanksgiving Day Dinner. “Starters” (salads) include such delights as Butternut Squah and Roasted Tomato Soup and Parmesan Crust with Sweet Corn and Tomato Aioli.  Entrees range from the traditional Turkey Breast to more creative Salmon with Orange Butter Glaze or Pork Loin with Brandy Jus. Sides finish the main dishes with Candied sweet potatoes, Roasted Carrots and Shallots, and Herbed Stuffing (of course!). Assorted desserts finish this meal with sweet memories! This wonderful dinner runs from 12pm to 4pm. At a price of $40 per adult, $20 for children ages 6 to12, and $10 for children under age 5, why spend days in the kitchen?

Just south of our B&B, along the Blue Ridge Parkway, you find Peaks of Otter Lodge. The Lodge will be serving Thanksgiving Day Buffet from 11am to 6pm. The expansive buffet will be made even better by the awesome views of Sharp Top Mountain and Abbott Lake. You will be thankful you chose this buffet that includes Peel & Eat Shrimp as one of the appetizers and Slow Roasted Prime Rib au Jus as one of the entrees. There is of course a fish dish (Lemon Dill Broiled Salmon) along with the Hand Carved Butter & Fresh Herbs Basted Turkey Breast. Side dishes include a “comfort food” in the form of Creamy Mac & Cheese and the tradistional Green Bean Casserole and Sweet Potato Casserole. Eight different desserts will be on the buffet table too!  All of this deliciousness costs only $32.95 for adults, $29.65 for Seniors, $16.50 for children age 6-12, and it’s free for children 5 and under.

One other option for your Thanksgiving dinner is to just stay in and cook your own in one of our fully equipped cottages. We provide all the utensils, dishware, stove/oven – you bring your own foods to cook for your special day of gratitude.

Whatever choice you make, we will start your day off with our hot breakfast and warm hospitality. Make a reservation for your Thanksgiving getaway soon!
