The 2023 Season at the Lime Kiln Amphitheater
The Lime Kiln Amphitheater, which hosted its first outdoor performance in 1967, has long been a treasured performance venue in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley. Back then, when Washington & Lee students hosted a performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the Lime Kiln Amphitheater was still just an abandoned limestone quarry and kiln.
Today, the Lime Kiln Amphitheater is a beautiful venue that hosts a range of world-renowned folk, bluegrass, and Americana artists each summer. The summer concert season has been delighting guests in the Shenandoah Valley since 2014 – but it’s about so much more than the music. The concert experience at the Lime Kiln Amphitheater is impressive. Throughout the evening, you’ll be surrounded by natural stone walls and trees, with nothing but a starry sky above.
There are two stages at the Lime Kiln Amphitheater. The “Bowl” is the main stage, which can hold concerts for up to 675 attendees – and nearly every one of these seats has been sold out for at least the past seven seasons. We expect it to be no different in 2023! The seating in the Bowl combines bench-style seating and grassy sections suitable for your own chairs and blankets.
Part of the concert experience at the Lime Kiln Amphitheater is bringing food or enjoying the food onsite as a pre-concert experience. Hosted food trucks are on site, and the venue opens an hour before each performance. Local wineries and breweries also supply a great selection of local wine, beer, and cider.
